In the defense of Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy

Recent Capital Talk show has spread serious discomfort among few people about Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy, as evident by their comments on the videos. I just want to clear few points. I agree with what Dr. Sb said to that quack in the show. Before starting abusing Dr. PH because of his behaviour in the show, I wonder what one shows by his own language.

If anybody on a National TV comes and tells lies and you listen to those lies and defend them vehemently and believe on them so religiously that anybody who is disagreeing, is a pimp to you; that surely is a proof of insanity in the society and needed to be addressed. When a person defies basic laws of physics and chemistry, any physicist and chemist can get hyper. A person who does not know difference between Voltage and Current, can he be called an engineer? As simple as that!!!

Dr. PH is a nuclear physicist, he is PhD from MIT, worked with many prominent Manhattan Project Scientists (Did anybody among those who abuse him ever heard this name? The project where 100's of Nobel Laureates worked, starting from Einstein). He left offers of dozens of jobs from all over the world and came here, to Pakistan, to teach our children. Professor Dr. Hoodbhoy owns a small Suzuki FX while our ordinary lecturers have Suzuki Cultus and Toyota Corrolla. He is a student of world renowned Scientists, some of them Nobel Laureates (e.g. Dr. Abdus Salam) and an affiliate of Dr. Eqbal Ahmed (Those criticising won't even know who he was, either.) For those who ask what PH has invented and how much has he contributed, here are some of his contribution.

Alongwith his brilliant research evident from his publications and students, he is also running Khaldunia School in Islamabad on his own expenses. The Masha'al organisation, which translates books into urdu, many are available for free on the website, is also one of his magnum opuses. He is a social activist and a humanist as well. He has also produced documentaries on Science to create scientific environment in the country. Dr. PH had left luxurious life of US and came back to his country with an aim to educate the people and to promote the culture of Science and Reason. There are countless contributions of this man. If you can't appreciate, at least do not abuse. He has been fighting irrationality since long and people must know that what social impact the irrational clowns like Agha Waqar can make, so they must be visibly exposed in hard words and such people should be jailed for befooling people.
Here's an intro about Dr. PH on LUMS website.

"Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy is currently working as Visiting Professor in the Physics department from January 24, 2011.

Pervez Hoodbhoy was a Professor of Physics at the Quaid-e-Azam University. He received the Abdus Salam Prize for mathematics in 1984 and is the author of 65 scientific research papers. He is chairman of Mashal, a non-profit organization which publishes books in Urdu on women’s rights, education, environmental issues, philosophy, and modern thought.

Dr. Hoodbhoy has written and spoken extensively on topics ranging from science in Islam to education issues in Pakistan and nuclear disarmament. He produced a 13-part documentary series in Urdu for Pakistan Television on critical issues in education, and two series aimed at popularizing science. He is author of ’Islam and Science: Religious Orthodoxy and the Battle for Rationality’, now in 5 languages.

In 2003, Dr. Hoodbhoy was awarded UNESCO’s Kalinga Prize for popularizing science in Pakistan with TV serials and his film ’The Bell Tolls for Planet Earth’ won honorable mention at the Paris Film Festival."

Still if someone is willing to debate Agha Waqar's claims is welcome to comment below. I'll respond personally. I will also upload a technical post busting all his lies after this post.

There's a major factual error in this article. Dr. Hoodbhoy was never a part of the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project produced the first atomic bombs that were used by the U.S. Pervez Hoodhboy wasn't even born during World War 2 and has actually been a nuclear disarmament activist for the longest time.
